What is Occupational Therapy?
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy uses "occupations" or meaningful activities to help people of all ages to perform the tasks that they need and want to do in their daily lives. In the school system, we work on skills to help kids participate as independently as possible within their classroom, at recess, lunch, specialists, etc. Some skills that we work on include the following: fine motor skills, visual perception, sensory processing, postural control, seating and/or environmental accommodations, assistive technology, handwriting, self-care, and social skills. Any skill or activity that a student needs to be able to do at school are areas that we work on to help them participate as independently as possible!
