Kenny School News

Kenny School has received its budget allocation for the 2017-2018 school year.  Due to overspending by the district for several years, schools are receiving a 2.5% budget decrease as Superintendent Graff works to get the district back on track.  Pushing all of our current programming forward using the 17-18 costs, our school is short $105,211 and will lose our half time Math Specialist.  We will work to be extremely creative in planning for next year.  Please see the link if you are interested in seeing the numbers:  2017-2018 Site Council Budget Packet

MPS Community Education
Community Education Winter Session

Community Education is excited to be back and offer up an amazing slate of live virtual after school classes – everything from Kendama and theater to Snapology, cooking, crochet and more. Tae Kwon Do and Latin Dance for those that want to keep moving. Chess for the strategists, and Dungeons and Dragons for the warriors and wizards. There is something for everyone after school!

The winter session of Community Education classes will run from January 19 to February 25 and we will have classes at 3:00 and 4:15 each day, Monday through Thursday.  We have multiple class fee options, so you can pick what you are able to pay.  We gave more than $52,000 in after school scholarships in 2019 and appreciate your help in making our programs accessible to all.

Looking for something to do that doesn’t involve screen time?  We’ve got you covered! Check out our monthly take home activity kits for the entire family.  Examples of activity kits include:  Celebrating Black History Month, Fidgets, Crystal Science, Mardi Gras, Pen Pal Program and String Art.

To see all of our K-5 classes and activity kits, go to our K-5 student website: https://sites.google.com/mpls.k12.mn.us/orange

Registration for K-5 starts today, January 4th at 4:00 pm!

Register by January 13 to make sure your student gets their favorite class.

·         Refund Note: Refunds minus a $5 processing fee, will be issued when requested at least three business days before the class starts. Full refunds will be issued if a class is cancelled due to low enrollment.

Please email Michelle.Rukavina@mpls.k12.mn.us Kenny Community Education Coordinator with any questions.
