About Mrs. McGovern
 

Mrs. McGovern grew up near the sand dunes

Carmel
of western Michigan. She graduated from a small country high school and attended Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education K-12 and Theater/SpeechK-12. 

After receiving her Master of Arts in Education from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, she earned a K-12 Minnesota Reading license from Hamline University in St. Paul and an Orton-Gillingham Reading certificate, specializing in helping dyslexic readers. She has earned certificates of advanced graduate studies in essential aspects

of human learning and "Artful Thinking" at Harvard’s Project Zero led by professor Howard Gardner.

Presently Mrs. McGovern teaches full time Visual Art at Kenny Elementary K-5, and is an adjunct graduate education professor at Hamline University, part time.

Mrs. McGovern loves to paint, design textiles, read and write poetry, sew, swing dance, and cook.  She loves sharing time with her husband, daughter, and her extended families in Michigan and Ireland.
