Read Naturally Lab
Kenny students who strive to improve reading fluency have access to Read Naturally, a program that combines three research proven strategies to develop reading fluency. With the help of parent volunteers, Kenny offers this program to our special education, ELL, and Title I students, as well as to any of other students who need extra help in developing this skill.

The three strategies behind this method are:

Teacher modeling - Teacher modeling consists of a proficient reader modeling good, correct reading for a less able reader. Dyad reading, echoic reading, NIM (neurological impress method), and choral reading are examples of this strategy.

Repeated reading - Repeated reading improves fluency. With this strategy, the student reads a story of 100 to 200 words many times until they are able to read it fluently.

Monitoring - Daily monitoring of student progress improves student achievement. The student becomes more involved in the learning process and the teacher remains aware of each student's progress.
