Kenny Named 2014 Celebration School

Congratulations Kenny School - the only Minneapolis Public School named a 2014 "Celebration School" by the Minnesota Department of Education. Celebration schools are those recognized for efforts to increase student achievement.

A very well deserved congratuations to our GEMS program!  Awarded the " World Class Research Award Robotics Challenge" as well as the "Core Values Award".  Thank you to Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Livermore for their hard work and dedication to the GEMS program ! Special congratulations to the girls in the GEMS program, Kenny is very proud of you!

The 3 parent-staff boards are active during the school year. Sign up this spring to jump into a board membership this fall.  The meeting dates follow - then read about what each board does and chose one to get involved in! The names of the chairs and their emails are listed, too should you have any questions.

The Kenny School PTA is a formal organization composed of parents, teachers and staff that facilitates parental participation. If it’s a fundraiser to buy something for the school, an after- hours social event or even an event during school hours that requires parent volunteers, chances are, the PTA is involved! Here’s a list of what we do.

The Site Council is a group of staff and parents who work on issues related to governing the affairs of the school, including budgets, policies, curriculum. This is the planning arm of the school and works very closely with the principal and the School Improvement Plan, which is issued by the district.
When does the Site Council meet? The first Tuesday of every month (during the school year) at 6:00 p.m. in the Kenny Art Room. The meetings are open. Parents and staff are welcome – and encouraged – to attend!

The Kenny Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support the mission of the school. The Foundation reviews funding requests from staff and parents and allocates money when the requests support the goals of the school. We raise funds by parents designating Kenny as the recipient of company giving programs and through our annual March Magic fundraising party.
When does the Foundation meet? The first Tuesday of every month (during the school year) at 6:00 p.m. in the Kenny Art Room. The meetings are open. Parents and staff are welcome – and encouraged – to attend!

Kenny Kares Giving Tree

Dear Kenny Families, 


I am excited to announce Kenny School is unveiling a new family and community giving project. We will now have a Kenny Kares Giving Tree. Kenny Kares will help build our Kenny community and meet the needs of our students, families and staff. The tree symbolizes strength and growth, by giving we create a strong community allowing all to grow. On the Kenny Kares board (outside of the main office) there is a list of items currently needed. There is a place next to each item to sign up if you are able to donate the requested item. To make a request for a specific need, forms are available in the office. You can also sign up to donate an item or make a request for an item via our online forms. I have been working  closely with a few Kenny parents to get this project up and running. This would not be possible without their dedication, passion, compassion and energy.  Below you will find the web links to access the request form and donate form (which allows you to see the current items needed). I look forward to watching the positive impact this project will have on our awesome Kenny students and families.
